encrypt-file encrypts a file using the openssl(1) command line tool from the OpenSSL project.
It uses the Triple DES cypher for encrypting the file with a given password https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Triple_DES.
-f <password file>
read the password for encrypting/decrypting from the given file
-k
keep the original file. Usually the file to be encrypted/decrypted is removed upon sucessful encryption/decryption.
If no password file is specified the user is asked to enter one.
decrypt-file decrypts a file using the openssl(1) command line tool from the OpenSSL project.
Encrypt a file requesting for a password:
encrypt-file secret_file.txt
Decrypt a file and keep the original requesting the user for a password.
decrypt-file -k secret_encrypted.enc
Encrypt a file reading the password from ~/.secret-pass
:

For encrypting and compressing the order must always be: compression first and encryption second, since the encryption process randomizes the input, thus making any latter attempt to compress the file futile.
